The Tanjin throw is made of African Mudcloth. Now what IS mudcloth you may find yourself asking? Well it's one of the design world's trendiest textile choices that has actually been around forever. Mudcloth, or bogolanfini, is an ancient Malian textile (dating back to the 12th century). Traditionally, it involves coarse, hand-spun cotton strips going through a long series of dyeing processes—first in a bath with leaves and branches, then numerous dye cycles in fermented mud (hence the name)—to achieve minimalist, symbolic designs.
The durability of Mudcloth makes it an excellent choice of textile for upholstery, pillows, even shower curtains! The Tanjin Mudcloth throw, can be used as a tablecloth, a picnic blanket, an accent throw, whatever you can think of really. The Tanjin throw is dark navy blue with white a pattern and has unfinished/raw edges that will get softer with age.
